Under the blue skies of Canmore, Alberta a 5.5km and 11km running / walking event for women only will be hosted for the first time in spring 2008. This event will promote a charitable cause while celebrating women. Active and health conscious women - come out to the mountains for a running race experience but even more so a wellness package for body and mind.
May: Children’s Festival
May 16 - 17, 2008 9:30am All events at the Canmore Children's Festival take place at Canmore Collegiate High School. Canmore is located 90km west of Calgary and 5km east of the park gates of Banff National Park on the Trans-Canada Highway.
This two day event is a celebration of our children. It’s an opportunity to set the kids free and to unleash your inner child for two days of fun, laughter and merriment. Storytellers, theatre, comedy, magic, puppets, crafts and games await discovery at the Canmore Children’s Festival.

June: The Great Race July 11th
The Great Race marks the centennial of one of the most remarkable motorsports events of the 20th century — an auto race around the world from New York to Paris in 1908, before today’s modern highways and fuel stations. In a re-run of that milestone event, the 2008 Great Race will depart New York City on May 30 and finish on August 2.

Canmore is a haven for both artists and lovers of the arts – a fact that will be celebrated with Canmore’s fifth annual arts festival – the Canmore artsPeak Arts Festival. The festival celebrates the sights and sounds of the visual, literary and performing arts and features thirty five FREE venues around town. ArtsPeak presents the talents of local artists and artisans, as well as recognized regional and national artists and performers. The festival offers both outdoor and indoor presentations and activities for festival goers throughout the weekend. Many free exhibits and presentations, along with ticketed main stage events, will be available.

June 27th 2008 Blessed Are The Children Golf And Go Marathon
Come and golf with your son/daughter/niece/nephew or just some young person who is special to you and you'll be helping families in the Bow Valley at the same time. Register soon for either our 18 hole or 9 hole alternate shot golf tournament on June 27th beginning at 3pm at the Canmore Golf & Curling Club. This local charity benefits families who have a child unexpectedly experience catastrophic illness, injury or death.

July: Canada Day Celebration

One thing you can count on is Canada Day in Canmore. Our festivities celebrate the special joy of being Canadian. Locals line up early for the pancake breakfast that starts at 7:30 am. Main Street
is jammed with people who come from all over southern Alberta to view the parade. Spending our national day in beautiful Canmore is a pleasure that should not be missed.

The Celtic spirit prevails in Canmore when hundreds of participants of the Highland Dance, Piping, Drumming and Heavy Sports compete in their quest for excellence. The Beautiful Canadian Rockies come alive with the sound of music every November when the Vic Lewis International Band Festival strikes up the bands! Named to honour a Canmore pioneer who introduced band music to Bow Valley students in the 1940’s...and who taught them for over twenty years...the Vic Lewis International Band Festival has earned a reputation as one of the best non-competitive music festivals in Alberta. Over 800 students in junior high and high school bands perform for adjudicators, participate in workshops, listen to faculty recitals and give public performances during the two days and two nights of the festival.
