After years of living in a house, or a town, you forget what’s under your nose! We recently had some friends visit us from Canada with their family. We just wanted to give them a roof over their heads while they were visiting London. We had met them and become firm friends in Canmore. On their first day they wandered into the town centre, about 150 yards from our font door. We didn’t think the kids would be very impressed as by North American standards our local mall is tiny. We had forgotten that it was one of our local market days in town. The town centre was bustling with crowds browsing through the colourful array of local market stalls. Selling everything from local produce, woodwork crafted by local people, homemade jams and chutneys, handmade gifts, crafts and even delicious street food to enjoy in the warm sunshine from many different parts of the world. Horsham, in West Sussex is after all a market town, but even though it’s on our doorstep, we took it for granted. The following days passed and as the train station is only about 100 yards from our front door our friends enjoyed some great sight seeing opportunities in London, just a 45 minute ride away. Towards the end of their stay we went to one of the many pubs in town for a meal with the family and to hear all about their adventures in London. We asked them how they had enjoyed their visit. “Oh London was fantastic” they said, “but we couldn’t get over how nice Horsham is.” You see we had forgotten and taken for granted the reason we moved to the town in the first place. We spend a lot of time talking to our guests in Canada about Canmore and the Rockies, which is, without doubt a stunning location for a vacation, but we had completely ignored the fact that family and friends visit, not only because they come to see us but because of the great area we live in. We have been renting out our Condos in Canmore since 2004. Time flies when you’re having fun! We have made some wonderful friends and enjoy welcoming back returning guests to our condos. We have never stopped enjoying the Rockies and are continuing to have some brilliant adventures, which we plan to enjoy for many years to come.
We would love to share some of our English experiences with you and welcome guests to our Victorian home in England. We are only a 20 minute drive from Gatwick airport and with direct flights from North America, transfer by train is very easy. If you wish to rent a car, this can either be done at the airport or 20 yards from our front door. There are many year round events in and around our town and with great transport links the UK is your oyster! We have a large bedroom with a four poster bed and en suite toilet and shower, plus a second smaller bedroom with a Queen bed and en suite toilet and shower.
