Canmore is located in the the heart of the Canadian Rockies, approximately 65 miles (105 Kilometres) from Calgary and 16 miles (25 Kilometres) from Banff town centre. Situated in the beautiful Bow Valley and surrounded by stunning mountain vistas, Canmore is a truly year round destination both for visitors and local residents alike. Once a mining town Canmore is now a bustling town with 12,000 residents, which can swell to nearly 30,000 in busy seasons.

People often ask,”When is the best time to visit Canmore?” The honest answer is dependent on the type of activities you wish to take part in. There are great trails running around the town which are accessible in all seasons. We have three magnificent golf courses just a short car journey from the down town core. Depending on the weather these open from May unit early October. Imagine teeing off while taking in the natural geography of the area. Skiers are also well catered for with four hills, plus Canmore’s cross county ski center, all within a reasonable drive.

Although there are numerous activities in and around Canmore there is still plenty to do for the romantic or relaxing getaway. Although the lifestyle in Canmore is a very healthy one, there are some great relaxing pastimes within the town. Canmore boasts one of the worlds biggest shops devoted to quilting. Maybe you would like to enjoy some people watching, while sipping a cold beer or maybe go for a gin tasting and lets not forget Canmore’s spa’s where you can be pampered and reinvigorated. If you are looking for some great food Canmore doesn’t lack in that department either. It doesn’t matter if you want to grab a burger or spend any enjoyable fine dining experience, the town provides a wide selection of cuisine for all tastes and budgets.

In nearby Canmore Nordic Center Provincial Park, the Grassi Lakes Trail weaves past a waterfall to 2 turquoise blue lakes. The park also features cross country ski and mountain bike trails. East, Grotto Canyon’s steep limestone walls flank a narrow creek bed leading to the cave.
