Canmore Nordic Centre
Canmore Nordic Centre played host to the 1988 Winter Olympics. Extensive refurbishment was undertaken in 2004 and completed in 2008. There is additional work in the pipeline for the 2026 Olympics. This is why it is home to Canada’s national biathlon and cross-country ski teams. Despite the name, the centre is used year round for many summer events, including Mountain biking, Disc Golf and Roller Skating. However, the Nordic Centre is the ideal location for winter fun for all the family and for cross country skiers and biathlon training. Thanks to the clever storage of snow throughout the summer skiing starts around October 15th! The centre is in frequent use as an international venue for cross country skiing and biathlon competitions. Competitors have access to 12.5 kilometres of new cross-country ski and biathlon competition courses that meet top Federation Internationale du Ski and International Biathlon Union requirements. Whether you’re visiting as a spectator or a participant the facilities are of a very high standard. Here is a little more information about up and coming events at Canmore’s Nordic Centre. There is also an excellent facility for for weddings, should you be looking for a venue and it’s only a ten minute drive from our condos.
