Valentines Day Canmore
As we know Valentines Day is now associated with romance and the art of love, but it has more sinister beginnings. More Roman than romance. It is believed that during the reign of Claudius II, 270 A.D. as emperor , he was also know as Claudius II Gothicus. Claudius did not want men to marry during war time as he thought that single men were better warriors. Bishop Valentine went against Claudius’s wishes and performed secret wedding ceremonies. For this, Valentine was jailed and then executed by order of the Emperor on Feb. 14 It is said that while Valentine was in jail, he wrote a love note to the jailor’s daughter, signing it, “From your Valentine.” Sound familiar?!
Sit back and enjoy the sun on your face and the pure, sweet mountain air, a fresh cup of coffee in your hand and a day full of romantic adventures ahead. Maybe a visit to Le Chocolatier, just to top up on the small taster we gave you on arrival. How about a romantic dog sled ride into the mountains. The evening can be filled with a fabulous dining experience at one of Canmore’s many restaurants. Whether you like fine dining or to just relax and chat in a friendly pub, the choice is yours. This is the reality of living in Canmore. You can then relax in your home away from home and close your own front door on your days adventures and cozy up in front of the TV.
