Although not confirmed until February 23rd it seems the town council has decided to postpone parking charges for the downtown core unit 2022. This disision has been welcomed by some local businesses, especailly following on from the pandemic. We need to attract visitors back to Canmore and possibley charging for parking may put some tourists off.
Councillor Joanna McCallum said “I do agree that this weighs heavily on the minds of business owners in the downtown core, but I am not sure that it should,” McCallum said, noting visitation this summer is likely to be comprised of mostly day-trippers. “I feel that it has the potential of being a red herring.”
