Deep down under the hoodoos of the Drumheller Valley lies dark mine shafts emptied of coal, but rich with history. Joe Vickers is digging deep to uncover these buried stories of the past with his collection of short stories disguised as songs on his album, Valley Home. Reminiscent of the best work of Alberta cowboy singer Ian Tyson, Vickers tells tales of homesteaders, immigrants, miners, union men and hockey players, set against the backdrop of the coal mining towns of the Drumheller Badlands.
